It's the ultimate prize for any Age of Empires fan: the Age of Empires III Collector's Edition is packed with premium extras that any Age fan would crave. Packaged in an oversized, beautifully embossed box, the Collector's Edition includes an impressive hardbound 210-page "The Art of Empires" book, a "Making of Age of Empires III" DVD with behind-the-scenes video and commentary, the official Age of Empires III soundtrack, a huge (43-in. x 27-in.) full-color poster of concept art painted by Craig Mullins, an exclusive Age III Player's Guide, and a Collector's Edition Game Manual. This amazing collection, from Microsoft and Ensemble Studios, is the perfect reward for all those years Age fans have built and destroyed countless civilizations, and is available now for pre-order for $69.99.
Age of Empires III is Ensemble Studios' landmark game of discovery and conquest in the New World, featuring spectacular graphics and physics never before seen in a real-time strategy (RTS) game. In Age of Empires III, players assume the role of a European power between 1500 and 1850 A.D. as they struggle to explore, colonize and conquer North and South America. Scheduled for release October 25th, Age of Empires III is the third installment in the award-winning Age of Empires series that has sold more than 16 million copies and defined the historical RTS. By introducing revolutionary new gameplay features like the Home City, the ability to ally with and produce Native American units, awe-inspiring visuals with a fully realized physics engine and more, Age of Empires III will expand upon the legacy of its predecessors and once again set the standard for real-time strategy games.

TCP/IP on ES Online – No, we will not support TCP/IP games through ES Online. You will be able to set up such games, but they are not something we support.

Home Cities and LAN in Age 3 – Home Cities are very much a part of every game of Age 3 – LAN included. When you play a LAN game of Age 3 you can earn experience for your single player cities, not for cities used on ES Online. That sounds like you could cheat LAN cities like mad… I’ll check on that. It may be that we don’t mind of you cheat cities in the LAN environment. But watch your pals.

ES Slug im Heavenforum:
There is a Direct IP option. I think what Martinez missed was that after you select LAN (and configure your Homecity), you can input the IP of the host.

es nervt finde ich ungemein wenn man im spiel "gefangen" ist während man auf ein spiel wartet.

1) We finish all the bits that go on a CD. This is called "going gold," because the release CDs used to be gold. I think they are red now.
2) Microsoft starts churning out copies of the discs, printing the boxes, and putting them altogether. This is the part we are at right now (as of Sep 25).
3) Boxes of games are shipped out to retailers. This is called release to market. It should happen on or just before Oct 18. On AOM, they actually beat this estimated date by 10 days. I'm told that's not going to happen this time, but we'll see.
4) Retailers get their games and put them up for sale. This is were a lot of variance is introduced. Some companies will get their copies quickly and sell them right away. On AOK and AOM, some retailers had product on shelves before the release to market day. Big box stores might have to send trucks to their big distribution centers first, which could slow them down. They also don't tend to get games as fast as smaller, specialty stores do. This is called "street date." I'll state one more time that this date is quite variable.
We are still releasing around the world on the same date, except for Japan. Japan typically runs a few months later. Whether your retailer is ready to fill orders on Oct 16 or Oct 25 or Nov 10 is really up to them and their distribution model.
When you start to see players post "I got my copy today!" messages, you'll see a lot of variation. Some guys in the same city will have it and others won't. Some countries will get it immediately and others won't.
