The short answer is it was very buggy and fixing it to work as players wanted would have delayed the patch too much. We couldn't decide about whether to support attack-move with the hotkey editor since it can often get players (especially less-experienced ones who won't put in the necessary trial and error) into more trouble than it can help them out. We chose not to remove the functionality from the game, but neither did we want to put it right up in front of players since it probably doesn't work the way they expect.
The basic problem is your attack-moved army will all attack the first unit they see instead of engaging the entire army. This can cause a lot of wasted time as your units attempt to get in a hit on a single enemy. In our balance tests, this actually caused the moving player to lose more units than if he had commanded the attack normally or had just ignored the units and proceeded to the destination. It's hard to find a situation in which it's actually useful, unless you are pretty good at noticing that the attack has just started and redirecting your troops at that moment.
Note that no implementation of attack move will ever work perfectly. The game can't read your mind and decide when your soldiers should fight and when they should flee. Stopping en route to kill a long Crossbowman makes a lot of sense. Stopping to engage the army that had moved since you issued your attack order probably makes sense. Losing all your Hussars because they chased a Skirmisher into a next of Forts and Outposts doesn't make much sense, but it's all a question of degree and player intent.

Hier finden wir die Files defaultkeymap.xml.xmb und defaultkeymap.xml
